Snapchat is a messaging app where you can take apicture or a video, add a caption or a doodle, and send it to a friend or put it in your story to share with all of your friends. Snapchat stories have become pretty huge in that Snapchat has created stories to show how different parts of the world live in their everyday lives.
The app was first created under the name "Picaboo" which was created by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy (Stanford University students) as a project for one of Spiegels's classes. The app was first launched in July 2011 and then was relaunched with the new name "Snapchat."
Something Snapchat is mainly known for are their Live Snapchat Stories. This feature allows people to view or upload pictures or videos on a live stream from different parts of the world that disappears after 24 hours. This has happneed in places like Chicago, Mecca, Japan, and Dallas! This feature has raised a lot of cultural awareness in that we see how people all over the world celebrate different holidays and live their every day lives.
