Pulaski County Detention Center

The Pulaski County Detention Center is committed to making Pulaski County a better place to live and visit . Pulaski County being nestled in the foothills of Appalachia and having Lake Cumberland , one of the largest man-made lakes in the country , has many things to offer . The recreational possibilities are limitless . From camping , bicycling , motorcycling , fishing , hiking , site seeing , SomerSplash , Somernites Cruise , Mill Springs Battlefield , Master Musician Festival , and many more wonderful activities .
Here at the Pulaski County Detention Center , we believe in giving back to our community . We strive to form strong partnerships with local governments , schools , churches , and other civic organizations . Our Inmate work program is one of the ways we forge these working relationships .
The Pulaski County Inmate Work Program has spent thousands of hours on roadside and lake clean up . We have cleaned up dump sites and assisted with storm damage . We have mowed and cleaned abandoned cemeteries . We have helped to maintain our community centers , parks , and local sports complexes . The Pulaski County Inmate Work Program is dedicated to making Pulaski County the GEM of Lake Cumberland .
The Pulaski County Detention Center has partnered with local schools , sending deputies into local elementary schools teaching our children the “ Too Good for Drugs ” curriculum . Deputies also attend Career Fairs to give insight to daily duties and discuss future job opportunities . Our children are indeed our most valuable resources and the future of Pulaski County .
The Pulaski County Detention Center has formed relationships with the Somerset-Pulaski County Economic Authority ( SPEDA ), Somerset Community College , and Workforce Development to provide re-entry programs to inmates . One of our most rewarding programs allows inmates to earn their welding degree through SCC . These individuals are able to work and earn income while incarcerated so that they can get a jumpstart on their re-entry into society .
The Pulaski County Detention Center works with the Department of Corrections to provide programs that will assist the inmates with developing and learning skills that will lower their chance of returning to incarceration . The Pulaski County Detention Center has its own garden . With Inmate labor , the garden has provided the Pulaski County Detention Center ’ s kitchen with fresh vegetables , while lowering the meal cost . The Pulaski County Detention Center strives to go above and beyond for its inmates , visitors and the citizens who are proud to call Pulaski County our home . Sincerely , Pulaski County Jailer Anthony McCollum
