March and April are considered tornado season in Indiana . On average , 23 tornadoes are reported every year in Indiana . Between 1830 and 2014 , Clark County has experienced 30 recorded tornadoes . In the same time period , Floyd County has only had seven recorded tornadoes .
CLIMATE CHANGE
According to Purdue University ’ s report entitled “ Indiana ’ s Past & Future Climate ," Indiana has already warmed 1.2 degrees since 1895 . Temperatures are projected to rise about five to six degrees by mid-century , with significantly more warming by century ’ s end .
Likewise , “ the number of extremely hot days will rise significantly in all areas of the state . In the past , southern Indiana averaged about seven of these days per year , but by mid-century this region is projected to experience 38 to 51 extremely hot days per year .”
