Melee Combat System
The goal of this project was to create a melee combat system that includes all the basic functions and is also deep enough to allow players to learn the action game skills. The project also includes a simple level and a basic AI to play with the combat system.
Players have the ability to use different types of combos based on the key input. Each type of attack has a different effect on the enemy, and players can dodge an enemy’ s attack. If a player dodges at a certain frame of the attack, the player can trigger the bullet time effect on the world,
which allows them to move faster because the world is slowing down. In order to take the basic combat system to the next level, I designed the ability to cancel attacks by dodging, including two different types of dodging based on player input. All of these features help the system become a fast paced, fast response combat system.
