«
“Free the Soul”
“Free the Soul” is a Fallout 4 mod I made I hope to become a technical designer
project to increase my skills in scripting understanding of game design and
from January to May of 2018. I chose this
and puzzle design, and it taught me to
design puzzles using a couple of core
mechanics and how to ramp up the
difficulty of the puzzles.
A big challenge I faced throughout this
level was conveyance of the puzzle
mechanics. I had to figure out ways to
teach players not only how to use a puzzle
mechanic, but also the full potential of the
mechanic. This involved giving feedback
when the player solves a puzzle or does
something wrong.

in the industry, which involves a good
scripting. Not only did this project help
me to develop my scripting skills, but
I additionally learned how to create a
difficulty curve, practiced balancing
enemy encounters, and developed the
habit of regularly updating my design
documentation.
