Dynamic Weather at Xuanjian Temple
In this Thesis project, I set up a recreation over Xuanjian Temple structured through hyper-modularity. The scene features dynamic weather including rain, partial sun imitating Weathering With You( 2019), a realistic sandstorm, and an eclipse imitating Berserk( 1989).
This project showcases the knowledge I have gained throughout my two years of learning at SMU Guildhall, with significant skill progress in modeling and Unreal Engine 5, combining real world architecture with surrealistic and realistic weather.
Over ten months of development, I set up an interactive environment from prototype to finalized version, going through a complete process of creating models, texture and weather systems. This project has helped me to strengthen my knowledge of modeling with a modularity mindset and allowed me to gain a thorough understanding of the Unreal Engine Blueprint system.
Last year, I paid a visit to Xuanjian Temple and was able to observe its overall structure and details like dougong and beam. My thesis refers to this real-world environment and creates a method for modular modeling within the temple structure and detailed parts.
