Araki Hirohiko’ s Style Match with Dynamic VFX and Destruction

This Thesis presents a stylized real-time environment developed in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on the relationship between character action, environmental destruction, and visual effects. The scene is built around a single key moment— a character breaking through a classroom window— which serves as a narrative entry point and a technical framework for testing how stylized visuals can function within an interactive system.
combines Blueprint-based mesh swapping with Chaos physics to create a layered sequence of breakage. As the character enters the space, glass shatters, walls fracture, and nearby objects respond through physics-driven motion. These interactions are supported by Niagara-based effects, including stylized smoke, energy accents, and impact-driven lightning, reinforcing timing and spatial feedback.
The project is structured around style exploration, dynamic destruction, and VFX integration. Visually, the work draws from the graphic language of Hirohiko Araki’ s“ JoJo’ s Bizarre Adventure,” with an emphasis on strong value contrast, simplified yet intentional forms, and expressive outlines.
The project adopts an unlit and post-processdriven approach to control tonal separation and maintain visual consistency across characters, environment, and effects. On the technical side, the destruction system
Over ten months, the project evolved from isolated visual tests into a more structured system. I gained practical experience in connecting materials, Blueprint logic, and Niagara workflows, and learned how earlystage decisions can significantly affect later integration. The extended timeline also allowed for multiple iterations, helping me refine both the visual direction and technical setup. Overall, this project strengthened my ability to approach stylized real-time work as a cohesive pipeline rather than a collection of separate elements.
