Best Practices : Conveyance by Using Dynamic Environment
Many great titles in the video game industry use dynamic environments to offer conveyance . In the context of video games , dynamic environments can be understood as functional environmental changes triggered by either the player or other non-playable character ( NPC ) factors . Using dynamic environments for conveyance offers the benefit of making it easier to capture the player ’ s attention than static objects would .
The purpose of this project was to infer best practices for conveyance by using dynamic environments to best create an immersive gameplay experience .
I was able to analyze playtest data to see if the conveyance worked as expected , as well as to see the effectiveness and features of various dynamic elements . The results show that most players are attracted by a dynamic environment , which helps them to correctly navigate to the designated target point when guided .
This project took me 400 hours from prototype to finish . Through the experience , I demonstrated my ability to create complex dynamic environments and build an immersive level and world environment .
After collecting and understanding a variety of functional dynamic environment samples , I combined different dynamic elements like effects , physics , light , and NPC factors to construct a level .
