Valhalla Shield
The goal of this project was to create a realistic looking shield that looked like it belonged to a Viking warrior . I wanted the shield to have a good bit of wear and tear to it to show that it has been used in many battles over its lifespan . This would give it more character than a brand-new looking piece of equipment . I chose this piece to work on because I wanted to have more hard surface practice under my belt , but I also wanted to focus more on creating props that characters would interact with or wear on their person . The project took me about half of the semester to complete , which totals roughly around 80 hours of work .
I was able to develop my sculpting skills more during this assignment , as well as to better establish my asset pipeline . The project also allowed me to practice texturing to focus on realism . This project certainly has use in the industry , as there are plenty of games that make use of shields and realism .
