The school was constructed by a local construction company, beginning with the laying of the foundations and concrete floor. Preparations were then made for the installation of the walls and roof, which involved cutting and laying out the metal supports (U-beams) for the first layer of Blocks, and assembling the roof frames. The walls for all three classrooms were then installed within three days, on top of which the roof frames and sheeting were assembled within four days. With the main structure now complete, work began on the installation of the internal ceilings, doors, and windows, as well as the tiling of the floors. The electrician installed the cabling, including the installation of lights and power points in the classrooms. Finally, wooden strips were positioned to frame the doors and windows and all external walls were painted in UV-protective paint.

The school’s location and the weather conditions posed several challenges for the building team during this project. These challenges were overcome with some strategic planning and support from the local community. For example, access to the school is via a steep dirt road, which became impassable for vehicles carrying building materials after heavy rain. To address this issue, a meeting was held with the head of the village, who quickly arranged for the road to be repaired, and the local community assisted in transporting materials to the site.

A further challenge was the unreliable supply of water and power to the school site. The construction team overcame this by using battery-powered tools where possible, and ensuring that batteries were consistently charged. Additionally, an extra water tank was transported to the site and filled with backup water for mixing concrete and cleaning equipment.
