Perhaps the most celebrated of all national holidays is Thanksgiving because everyone has something for which to be thankful , and gratitude is so humbling and unifying . Some of us have much to be grateful for and others less , and it ’ s the time of year when perhaps we ’ re most likely to recognize that and to share our abundance .
I am so grateful for all our supporters for sharing your time , talent , and financial resources . Giving is motivated by a variety of factors and it ’ s interesting to reflect on our own personal reasons for giving . For me , I am inspired by the future and what could be . So , my motivation for giving is both about giving back to the organization that has meant so much to me and about being inspired to support its future . What about you ??
George Shuster , our Board Chair , has been my leadership partner for nearly six years now . We both care about the outdoor experience in Girl Scouting and it ’ s why he and his wife Susan and I have supported the creation of endowments for both Camp Hoffman and Camp Rocky Farm . We are proud that both endowments , having exceeded the required minimum , are now both permanently endowed . We are so grateful to each person who has joined us in investing in these endowments to help sustain these beautiful camps .
Each of our camps are also supported by several foundations including The Champlin Foundation , van Beuren Charitable Foundation , and The Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust . Recently , The Champlin Foundation invested in the new pavilion at Hoffman in recognition of its centennial . The Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust has invested in Camp Rocky Farm and we have purchased and installed two new furnaces that will allow our membership to use this beautiful property year-round . And the van Beuren Charitable Foundation just announced their support for the development of a master plan for Rocky Farm .
