On Thursday, May 11th and Saturday, May 13th, GSSNE hosted two launch parties introducing members to the new science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) space and equipment available at the Leadership Center.
Featured S.T.E.A.M. stations included a robozone with three different types of robots (Edison, Ozobots, and Cubelets); engineering free-build with GoldieBlox; free-play with large digital wall panels; circuitry with light-up bracelets; and spatial recognition and coding with Osmo software on iPads. Participants also enjoyed trying out our new girl-centric furniture—there were opportunities to climb, scoot, and spin on all the new seating!
Attendees learned that the Leadership Center itself and new S.T.E.A.M. equipment would be available for future usage. As of June 6, GSSNE Girl Experience Specialist, Morgan Lovely, has prepared several new S.T.E.A.M. kits for Girl Scout groups to check out as Program Boxes.
