S'more News Summer 2017! | Page 12

As you may know, GSSNE successfully launched the Customer Engagement Initiative in March 2017. This exciting initiative consists of three online tools including the membership registration system, website with Girl Scouts of the USA shared content, and the Volunteer Toolkit.

These new tools and technology are designed to improve the adult and girl experience and keep members at the center of our process. Now that we have completed the process our members can expect a faster and easier joining (and renewal!) experience for girls and adult volunteers. The process of becoming a volunteer—from signing up to being appointed to a troop—can take as little as one week instead of four to six weeks! Volunteers can focus on the fun of working with girls!

We are so excited as we grow into this new way of working and supporting our customer—YOU—our valued members! As always, if you have any questions or concerns you can reach the GSSNE Customer Care team at [email protected].

CEI Update...

Donor Spotlight

A warm GSSNE thank you to Cox Communications for their recent

$10,000 donation through their Cox Charities Community grant.

This much needed funding will be used to purchase S.T.E.A.M.

(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) tool kits for hands-on experimentation. The funds will also help create dynamic curriculum, provide trained staff to directly serve girls, and facilitate new and exciting S.T.E.A.M. programming.

“Thanks to the generosity of Cox Charities and their focus on community,

Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England will be able to deliver exciting and innovative S.T.E.A.M. programs through our Girl Scout Leadership Experience Center in Warwick and as part of our Urban Outreach curriculum in underserved communities across Rhode Island.” said Pam Hyland, CEO. “Based on evaluations of Girl Scout S.T.E.A.M. programs, the Girl Scout Research Institute found that 77% of girls said that because of Girl Scouts, they are considering a career in technology. We can’t thank Cox Charities enough for helping us lift up a generation of girls who will be empowered to discover their passion for S.T.E.A.M.”.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that have been presented through this grant, both on behalf of the council and the girls this funding will ultimately serve.
