New Staff at GSSNE!

Maira Jamil joins GSSNE as the Community and Development Specialist. Originally from Pakistan, she completed her bachelor’s in health sciences from UMass Boston. Maira originally planned to go into medicine, but found her true passion in education and worked as a teacher for some time. She is very passionate about henna art and has been practicing it for over ten years. In her spare time, she is also an avid video gamer and loves to dance. Maira is very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this great organization and serve her community.

On December 2, 1919, Girl Scouts of Rhode Island was chartered by the Girl Scouts national organization and incorporated in Rhode Island to coordinate local efforts, organize troops in new areas, train leaders, and provide camping opportunities—all dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Although our world has changed over the past 100 years, Girl Scouts

of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) has continued to offer opportunities to all girls so they can grow as G.I.R.L.s (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader).

GSSNE is celebrating 100 years with a Centennial Patch Program created to commemorate our history and celebrate the G.I.R.L. of today. During this centennial year, girls can participate in a variety of G.I.R.L. programs offered through council and partner organizations, as well

as partake in troop activities and council events dedicated to our rich 100 year history.

The Centennial Patch Program is available throughout this 2018-2019 program year until December 2nd, 2019. To earn the commemorative patch, girls must participate in G.I.R.L programs as well as earn the Keystone Rockers which focus on an Alum Scavenger Hunt, GSSNE Girl Scout Evolution, History and Events.

More details about this exciting program will roll out in early October!
