Welcome to the 2018-2019

Girl Scout membership year!

Did you know that in 2017 Girl Scouts of the USA was ranked second on the World Value Index—an annual report that measures world-class organizations based on how different audiences perceive and value a brand’s purpose and mission? Girl Scouts reclaimed its ownership of and legacy in the leadership

space for girls, showing the world there is no better program to ignite the power of every girl!

As we enter our centennial year (1919) of Girl Scouting within the southeastern New England area, it is a great time to reflect with pride on the things that have earned us this #2 position!

I am most proud of how inclusive we have always been of ALL girls; that we

provide girls with experiences they would otherwise never have; that the safe, supportive environment volunteers and staff provide is where girls feel comfortable using their voice and where they grow friendships that last a lifetime! What makes you proud?

Having a strong brand and world value index comes with the responsibility to continually deliver on our brand promise to girls. So, what is that promise?

Our long term promise is that girls will lead with courage, confidence, and character, and make the world a better place!

Our short-term promise that is measured every year is that girls will have:

- A strong sense of self

- Positive values

- A challenge seeking spirit

- Healthy relationships

- A commitment to community problem-solving

Based on the Voices of the Customer surveys sent out each spring to girls, parents and volunteers, we know that we do best in helping girls develop a strong sense

of self and have positive values. We do less well on the last three promises. Let’s commit during our centennial year to provide challenging experiences that support even more girls in scaling their personal summits! Let’s be the best role models for strengthening our own relationships with others so girls can learn first-hand how to build healthier relationships with their family and friends. And let’s listen to the concerns that girls have about their world and what makes their heart hurt and help them problem-solve those issues! We’ve got this!!

Yours in Girl Scouting,

Pam
