Looking Wider
Growing up in Girl Scouting , I remember a saying about “ looking wider ” and it was all about expanding my world — expanding my understanding of the world , my comfort level in meeting new people , traveling to distant lands , trying new things , being open to differing thoughts and ways of looking at things , and so much more .
The Girl Scout Cookie Program supports this growth mindset in Girl Scouts both during and after the sale of these iconic cookies . As they grow their cookie business , Girl Scouts expand their comfort zone as they interact with one another and maximize their individual strengths ; and when they gather up the courage to approach prospective customers they never met before .
The funds they earn from their cookie business supports troop travel experiences thus expanding their worldwide view ; and their community service projects thus expanding their understanding of the needs of people in their communities .
I am deeply grateful for every customer who supports the ability of each Girl Scout to “ look wider ”, to dream big , and achieve their cookie business goals . Some troops will be raising dollars this year and next to travel to Orlando in July of 2023 to meet up with Girl Scouts from all over the world . Can you just imagine their excitement as they meet up with their fellow Girl Scouts — perhaps saying hello in a wide range of languages ? Now that is looking wider still !
