BRACE YOURSELF!

- Bedding for the right conditions

With sleeping bags, ensure you get one that will meet the conditions you are needing it for, and keep in mind that the temperature rating is a guide only.

- Wear layers

Layers are every Weekend Warrior's best friend. A few layers are much more efficient at trapping heat and keeping you warm than a single thick layer. Make sure you stay away from all things cotton as this absorbs moisture which will get you cold quickly.

- Arrive early & pick the right spot

You don’t want to be setting up your tent in the dark. Remember daylight hours are shorter in winter so don’t get caught out. And check the spot; summer campers might prefer the shadiest and most secluded one, while in winter the morning sun can be a welcome companion.

- Think fire

When you arrive at your campsite, start your fire before doing any other setup. Plan ahead and always pack fire sources.
