What happens when you're in desperate need of new tools, but you can't afford it?

Read on to find out how to give your old tools new life, and which household items to add to your toolbox!

VASELINE :

Vaseline (petroleum jelly), can be used on the body for multiple uses - but did you know it can be used as a tool for mainten- ance?

If you come across any sqeaking hinges, place some petroleum on them!

This will lubricate the hinges and stop the noise.

BAR OF SOAP :

It doesn't matter if you're a tradie or a home handyman - keep one of these bad boys in your arsenal for a cheap, quick way to fill small holes!

CRAYONS :

Anyone with kids (or who knows someone with kids) will have access to a whole rainbow of crayons.

Not only are they great for writing stuff down, but you can use it to cover scratches on wood - you can even melt it and use it as filler for small holes (just in case you ran out of soap).

SILICA PACKETS :

Usually found when you buy new shoes or grocery-store tortilla packets, sillica beads are VERY handy.

For those who don't know, sillica gel is used to absorb moisture. It will prevent things such as mould and rust from forming.

Chuck a few packets of silica gel in your tool box or belt to keep them from getting rusty - you can even put them in your boots after work to keep them smelling fresh.

If you ever drop your phone in the toilet, you can put it in a container with some silica gel packets to get rid of the water!
