FAME
W A L L O F
This issue's WALL OF FAME feature is a 'Do It Yourself' project by
Kelsey Cook, from BNE, Australia.
"My partner and I had just purchased our first apartment, and after all the furniture and bills associated with purchasing and moving into a place were done, there wasn’t much extra money floating around for large scale renovations.
Our apartment complex was built in the late 80’s, so some of the fittings and décor colour choices were a little “interesting” to say the least – so after a week of Pintrest boards [and asking around my local hardware stores SIQ.] I finally had an idea of what I wanted to do with our bathroom and I was pretty excited to get stuck in!"

How did you aproach this DIY project?
"The first thing I did was clean off the tiles and wait for them to dry – that ensured there wasn’t dust or anything that would stop the tiles from adhering. I then, tile by tile, measured out where each were going to be placed – you have some time before
the tile completely sticks to move it around, it’s just easier if it’s all mapped out beforehand! All I needed to cut the tiles was a metal ruler and a Stanley knife – the hardest part was
the base of the toilet – but if you measure correctly beforehand you’ll be fine.
The countertop paper was actually far more difficult...as we have different sections around our basin. Again the Stanley knife was a life-saver as it allowed me to cut around the basin so the wall paper fit snugly. I got my partner to put in the new handles.
I am really happy and proud of how these DIY’s turned out – it’s made our outdated bathrooms a bit more modern and has definitely given me the DIY bug!"
