EXTRA-CURRICULAR & ENRICHMENT
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS At Smitha we encourage students to become a part of clubs and organizations to enrich their middle school experience. Students who do participate must complete a form granting permission from parents / guardians. With participation in these activities comes responsibility. For example, when students participate in these activities, they are representing Smitha not only on campus, but also, in some instances, in the community; therefore, students who violate the District’ s Student Code of Conduct policies or experience significant academic difficulty are subject to a probationary period with their membership or students may be prohibited from participation.
INTRAMURALS Intramurals are an extension of physical education that provides an opportunity for team competition utilizing skills learned in the physical education classes. Intramurals are scheduled in the morning before school by the PE staff. Intramurals are a privilege. All school rules apply, and the local school administration or intramural sponsors will have the right to revoke this privilege based on student conduct.
FIELD TRIPS Smitha field trips are funded through parent / guardian donations. These donations are requested and collected to enable every student to participate. Participation in field trip activities will be contingent upon the individual student ' s discipline. If enough funds are not collected, the field trip may be canceled.
PERFORMING ARTS Several performances are scheduled throughout the school year. The Performing Arts programs are supported by parent donations.
