Sound delivery and good relationship management has enabled the SMEC Water Group in Sydney to win (and deliver) over $2.2M in consultancy fees for DMM and the Department of Defence over the past two years.

Most recently, SMEC was awarded the Stormwater Condition Assessment and Sewer Treatment Plant Decommissioning project in January 2013 where the project focused on two aspects –

Stormwater Condition Appraisal and Decommissioning of STP and Option Development.

SMEC provided site investigation and mapping plans of the existing stormwater network.

The Decommissioning of STP

and Option Development aspect involved an assessment of an existing STP at the Orchard Hill Base developing a design strategy for decommissioning of their STP options for ongoing collection, treatment and disposal of sewage waste from the base facilities.

The Sydney Water Group’s ability to deliver this project (and others) on time and to the client’s expectation has positioned SMEC well for ongoing and future projects for the Department of Defence.

The Sydney office has been embracing the lunch and learn culture again, after having a break for 9 months. To get the season rolling the Energy Services team (pictured, left) presented their services to the rest of the office to give us an idea of what it is they do and how they can tie in with the rest of the business.

Next up, Brian Butturini shared his ideas on team work and where he sees his water business heading. His session was filmed and has been uploaded to the

R drive in Sydney. (Click on ring image, left).

Coming up-in our fancy new office-IT will be teaching us how to get the most out of My Site, SharePoint tips and tricks, while demonstrating how to use the new high-tech audio visual software.
