Small Towns, Wisconsin Southwest Region Winter 2014 | Page 27

communit t et y og her Bringing a One of the unique aspects of small towns is their dedication to community life. These towns fill the calendar with events that bring the community together and inspire people to form tight knit bonds with their neighbors. For the Village of Brooklyn, a committee of residents (up to nine) in the Oregon School District organizes many of the family oriented events. The committee has been around since the 1990s and these individuals have a common goal: To enrich the lives of Brooklyn residents. The committee meets once a month, but throughout the month they are actively working behind the scenes. They are busier than Santa’s helpers as they prepare each event and nurture the town’s friendly atmopshere. While each event has a fundraising component (such as raising money for items like park equipment), the primary goal is encouraging people to spend quality time with their friends, neighbors, and even visitors like you. We’d love to see you there! Also at: www.Facebook.com/SmallTownsWI | www.Twitter.com/SmallTownsWI | www.Instagram.com/SmallTownsWI p.27
