LITCHFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING April 18 , 2016
President Mitch Feldman called the regular meeting to order at 7:32 p . m . Members Present : Bill Howard , Marie Sweley , Todd Wardyn , Mitch Feldman , Jim Holm , and Steve Heapy came late . Visitors : Brian and Jeralynn Moser , Wade Finley , Michelle Buchanan , Tim Marchese , and his assistant Jennie .
President Mitch Feldman announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meetings Law is posted on the wall of the meeting room , and also indicated the instructions for those who wish to speak during the public forum .
The minutes of the last meeting were read . Bill Howard made a motion to approve as read the minutes from the last meeting . Second by Todd Wardyn . Motion carried 5-0 .
The treasurer reported a balance of $ 1,283,737.38 in the district treasury . Payroll and claims in the amount of $ 202,796.91 were presented for payment . Marie Sweley made a motion to pay the claims . Second by Jim Holm . Motion carried 5-0 .
Mr . Kjar reported 3 rd quarter Awards program , Secondary NESA testing , our standardized state test , Junior High and High School Quiz Bowl , Megan Wood student of the Month , Track Season is underway , Activities for the end of the school year , and thanking the community for the opportunity to be part of a great place as he has accepted a job at Ravenna ; Mrs . Kluender reported on the test schedule for the SA test , Third Quarter Award Assembly , and attending the APL Training .
In the Superintendent ’ s Report Dr . Maline discussed new principal , new math instructor , Cannon Blauvelt , Special education Position , Transfer of Property , North Parking Lot Construction , Sprinkler System , Gym floor , and School District Residences to rent to educators .
Todd Wardyn made a motion to recommend that Wade Finley ’ s contract be formally approved as presented by the board of education as our new K-12 principal for the 2016-17 school year . Second by Marie Sweley . Motion carried 6-0 .
Todd made a motion to recommend that Michelle Buchanan be hired as the new Jr . Hi Math and reading instructor for the 2016-17 school year . Second by Bill Howard . Motion carried 6-0 .
Cannon Blauvelt has been assigned the new Activities and Athletic Director for the 2016-17 school year . We are still advertising for the Special education opening .
Todd Wardyn and Mitch Feldman will be attending the village board meeting to see if the village would like to share the cost of electronic sign .
Marie Sweley made a motion to recommend that John Kohl ’ s bid be accepted as presented to remove the trees and to do the grading work for the parking lot projects . Second by Jim Holm . Motion carried 6-0 .
