Litchfield Chapter of FBLA News & Updates
The Litchfield Chapter of FBLA attended State Leadership Conference in Omaha April 6-9th. While there,
we saw the sum of all the hard work we’ve put in over the course of the school year pay off. Our chapter
achieved nearly every ribbon! These included Go Green, Sweepstakes, StepUp2Tech, BAA (Business
Achievement Awards), March of Dimes, Feed Nebraska, Foundation Donor, iGive, and Connect2Business.
Additionally, our chapter received the Sweepstakes Award plaque for the 21st consecutive year! This
required our chapter to complete two detailed reports on our activities, recruit members and business
partners, and work hard to achieve several other awards throughout the year.
Again this year, our chapter also acquired the Gold Seal Award of Merit and trophy. This award is given to
chapters who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the areas of leadership and participated in
projects.
Member and Vice President of the Litchfield Chapter of FBLA, Tyren Howard, was also rewarded
Honorable Mention, which is awarded to only the top 4% of competitors, for Keyboarding Knowledge.
Our chapter has had a wonderful year, thanks in no small part to the support we’ve received from faculty and
administration here at LPS, and our surrounding community and businesses.
In the 2016-17 academic year, we hope to branch out even further into the community. We hope to enter a
business partnership with Trotter’s Learning Center, maintain our business connections with Howard
Transportation and The Bonfire Grill & Arrow Hotel, and tour many new places to continue expanding our
business knowledge. We further plan to sell planner ads and planners again this year, allowing area
businesses a place for community-wide advertising. We hope to continue our community service efforts as
well- hosting our annual canned food drive, toy/game drive, and book drives again next year.
This summer, we have big plans to attend and assist with Old Settlers on July 8-10th. We plan to play kid’s
games in the park, hold a dodgeball tournament, host the teen dance, and call BINGO! Please plan to attend
Old Settlers and stop by to see us!
To finish out this year, we will be holding officer campaigning and vote in our new officer team in the first
week of May. The current officer team deserves a big “thank you” for all they have done this year, none of
our achievements would have been possible without them!
