April 2016 Principal/Activities Director Newsletter Report 7-12 Grade Principal It has been a busy Spring already and is only going to get busier. We held our 3rd Quarter awards program on Monday, March 21st and once again, were able to honor numerous students for the positive work they are doing. We will begin Secondary NESA testing, our standardized state test, this week. Please encourage your student to do their best on these tests as our results are made public and our school/community will be judged based on their scores. I am conflicted as to the validity of judging a school district based on testing results from a few hours, rather than the 180 hours plus that our students and staff are working throughout the year. Regardless of my feelings, it is our current system and we will be judged on our score. Junior High and High School quiz bowl are wrapping up seasons that provided them with tremendous learning experiences. We are expecting great things from them in the future. Megan Wood was our student of the month, she was a state speech qualifier this year and is just an all-around solid person. PK-12 Activities Director Track season is under way and is about a month from the state tournament. The practice and meet schedule is posted on the school website. Congratulations to Coach Pat Hoblyn on her selection to the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame! A well-earned honor for a deserving person!
