7-12 Principal
Wow! What a blizzard!
This month a lot of time and effort focused on our NESA state writing assessment for 8th and 11th grade
students. Like a lot of other people, I don’t believe that high stakes testing is the end all, be all, that should
be used to judge the effectiveness of a school district, but it is a piece of data that many people use to
judge schools. As a competitive person it is important to me, and hopefully our community, that we perform
as well as we can on state assessments. It is my understanding that our students put forth an outstanding
effort and I am anticipating an increase in our overall percentage of students that receive a proficient score.
Thank you to our students and staff for the emphasis and effort placed on this assessment! Our second
Parent-Teacher conferences are February 11th, we are anticipating an awesome turnout. Cameron
Sonnefeld has resigned his position as 7-12 Science Teacher for the district. I would like to thank Cameron
for all that he has done for Litchfield Public Schools during his time here and wish him the best of luck in the
future! Cherie Kluender has resigned from her positions as K-12 Guidance Counselor, PK-6 Principal, and
Special Education Director. I would like to thank Cherie for all that she has done for Litchfield Public
Schools during her time here and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors! Cherie has served the
district well in a variety of roles and will be missed.
PK-12 Activities Director
We are posting the weekly schedule of events to the homepage of the school website. It is hard to believe
that we are already preparing for district competitions. Best of luck to all our athletes as they prepare to
compete for the opportunity to go to the state tournament! District wrestling is taking place in Cambridge on
February 12th & 13th, the Spartans appear to be in good shape to land a few state qualifiers. Look for
updated schedules and brackets for district basketball on the NSAA home page
http://nsaahome.org/basketball/. We will post all postseason information on our website as well. Speech
season is underway and our participants are working hard on fine tuning their speeches for the judges.
Look for real-time information about Ansley-Litchfield activities on Facebook, Twitter, and for live streaming
of events on “the cube” http://thecube.com/cube/litchfield-public-schools. We are excited to announce that
Ansley-Litchfield will be the host school for the D-7 District Track meet at Broken Bow on Wednesday May
11th. We will be in need of volunteers to help run the meet. If you are willing to volunteer, please contact
me. The 2016-17 football schedules have been released and are posted on the NSAA website and our
website as well.
