LITCHFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 15, 2016 President Mitch Feldman called the regular meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Members Present: Steve Heapy, Bill Howard, Marie Sweley, Todd Wardyn, Mitch Feldman, and Jim Holm came in late. Visitors: Joellen Russell, Barbara Ellis, and Brian Johnson. President Mitch Feldman announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meetings Law is posted on the wall of the meeting room, and also indicated the instructions for those who wish to speak during the public forum. The minutes of the last meeting were read. Todd Wardyn made a motion to approve as read the minutes from the last meeting. Second by Steve Heapy. Motion carried 6-0. The treasurer reported a balance of $1,288,695.89 in the district treasury. Payroll and claims in the amount of $192, 903.48 were presented for payment. Steve Heapy made a motion to pay the claims. Second by Marie Sweley. Motion carried 6-0. Mr. Kjar reported on NESA writing test and days off due to the blizzard, Parent-Teacher Conference, Resignation of Cameron Sonnefeld and Cherie Kluender, Posting weekly schedule on the school website, Wrestlers going to state, District basketball brackets on the NSAA website, activities on the cube, and hosting D-7 track; Mrs. Kluender reported on Preschool Advisory Meeting, Professional Development for staff on the Zones of Regulations, NESA writing tests completed and are very pleased with the effort put forth for this, and the teachers that helped with accommodations in any way. In the Superintendent’s Report, Dr. Maline discussed: New Ag instructor, Calendar Approval, Computer lease approval was tabled until next meeting, Town and Country Bank Authorization, New Accounting System, Special Education Contract with ESU 10, Long Range Planning, Principal Contract, and Evaluations. Todd Wardyn made a motion providing Brian Johnson is approved for a provisional teaching certificate through the transitional teaching program, that Brian Johnson be hired as the New AG instructor for Litchfield Public Schools for 2016-17. Second by Marie Sweley. Motion carried 6-0. Bill Howard made a motion to recommend approval of the 2016-17 Calendar as presented with the exception to graduation which will be voted on next month. Second by Jim Holm. Motion carried 6-0. Jim Holm made the motion to accept the Town and Country Bank Authorization which states, “I, Marie Sweley, certify that I am Secretary (clerk) of the above named corporation organized under the laws of Nebraska, Federal Employer I.D. Number 47-6005497, engaged in business under the trade name of Litchfield Public
