Superintendent’s Report March 2016 Litchfield Public Schools Personnel 7-12 Science Position We are pleased to announce that we have offered and Leah Kenney has accepted the 7-12 science position at Litchfield Public Schools for 2016-17. Leah is in the transitional program at UNK and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska in May of 2015 with a degree in communication and psychology. She graduated with “High Distinction” and a GPA of 3.964. After graduation Leah has been a part of an after school mentoring program, the Bright Futures program, and has recently been substitute teaching at Kearney High School. Through those experiences she feels that teaching students is what her passion is and is now working with UNK to complete her Science teaching degree this summer. As a transitional student she will complete her student teaching while on the Job at Litchfield Public Schools which will then complete her Science Education Teaching Degree from the University of Nebraska, Kearney. Some comments about Leah from her supervisors and instructors, “Leah’s passion, honesty, and compassion for other people will make her a great educator. She has endless energy and is a positive role model for students to follow, both in and out of the classroom. She has my utmost respect and resounding endorsement as a teacher.” An assistant professor of chemistry at UNK commented about Leah, “Leah Kenny is an excellent student with a passion for working with people. Her high (GPA 3.964) upon graduation from UNL is a testament to her abilities as a student and her work ethic. She has done an exceptional job in all of my chemistry classes and science classes at the UNK. Another supervisor stated, “Mrs. Kenney is an exceptional employee who can tackle any situation presented to her. Her level of commitment to her job and her education would lead me to believe she will work hard to excel at anything, and I would highly recommend her for employment as a high school science teacher in your school district.” The last recommendation is made by the teaching coordinator for ESU 10 who facilitates all of the math and science workshops. “Leah Kenny has the characteristic
