March 2016 Principal/Activities Director Newsletter Report
7-12 Principal
It is difficult to believe that last week ended the 3rd quarter and began the 4th quarter. We will be hosting
our 3rd quarter awards assembly on Wednesday, March 16th during our access period (3:19-3:45). The
school year will be over before we know it, so let’s finish strong! Our FBLA chapter had a big month hosting
reach out and read, toy donation, and green week programs along with providing a Valentine’s Day Child
Care fundraiser that were all well received! Thank you to Mrs. Hunt and her group for the outstanding work!
The pediatric heart disease Zumba fundraiser ended up raising over $700. Awesome job to Mrs. Kratzer
and everyone that attended and/or helped organize the event. Our staff participated in ALP Learning Walks
in conjunction with ESU 10. This provided several of our staff members with a valuable peer review
opportunity. On March 3rd our students and staff were able to listen to a presentation about decision
making and the risks of drinking and driving. With prom season and graduation around the corner it was an
important reminder for everyone. Litchfield Public Schools and Trotter’s Garden Center have received a lot
of great publicity recently. Check out this article in the Kearney Hub http://tinyurl.com/j8matsp.
Thank you to Gary Lawrence and Janice Reynolds for all the work they are doing with our Farm to School
program!
PK-12 Activities Director
We are posting the weekly schedule of events to the homepage of the school website. Congratulations to
all of our Winter Activities coaches, sponsors, and participants for the effort and success during their
seasons! Speech will be participating at Districts on March 15th, in Loup City. Good luck with your
speeches! Track practice has begun. The practice and meet schedule is posted on the website. We are
excited to announce that Ansley-Litchfield will be the host school for two major track meets this year. The
Custer County meet occurs on Thursday, May 5th at Broken Bow and then the D-7 District Track meet at
Broken Bow on Wednesday, May 11th. We will be in need of volunteers to help run the meets. If you are
willing to volunteer, please contact me. Some of our track and field facilities are in need of updating, we will
be putting a proposal together for the school board to review at the April meeting. Look for real-time
information about Ansley-Litchfield activities on Facebook, Twitter, and for live streaming of events on “The
Cube” http://thecube.com/cube/litchfield-public-schools.
It's a great day to be a SPARTAN!
