Litchfield Students Enjoy Day with Professional Artists

“My favorite part was making my UFO in my Acrylic painting, it was just fun to paint,” Sofie Adrian (foreign exchange student
from Denmark) states. Our students traveled to Halsey Thursday to create. The whole time students were working alongside
professionals who are at the top of their field in four different areas: Pottery, Mixed Media, Acrylic Painting, and Drawing.
This is the fourth year Litchfield students have taken part in this amazing opportunity. Students gifted in art from across the
conference area were invited to spend the day exploring different types of art and unique techniques.
Roberta Barnes from Stapleton and Rosalea Gift from Thedford spend time every year writing grants to the Nebraska Art’s
Council in order for this event to take place. Tessa LeFever states, “My favorite part was the mixed media workshop; I learned
how to utilize different materials such as shoe polish and tin foil to create a work of art.”
The event takes place at Halsey National Forest at the 4-H lodge, every year there are different subject areas and different
professionals ready to share their trade. We are also grateful to our school for sponsoring the student’s individual fee for lunch and
the transportation. It is a rare opportunity to get out of school to make art all day but one that will not soon be forgotten by all who
participated.

the state and world.
