LITCHFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING September 18, 2017 President Mitch Feldman called the regular meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. Members Present: Mitch Feldman, Marie Sweley, Jim Holm, Steve Heapy, Todd Wardyn, and Bill Howard came late. Visitors: Nikia Hunt, Brian Johnson, Lance Ellison, and Cannon Blauvelt. President Mitch Feldman announced that a current copy of the Open Meetings Law is posted on the wall of the meeting room. The minutes of the last meeting were read. Jim Holm made a motion to approve the minutes with one typo correction from the last meeting. Second by Steve Heapy. Motion carried 5-0. The treasurer reported a balance of $870,485.52 in the district treasury. Payroll and claims in the amount of $253,990.49 were presented for payment. Jim Holm made a motion to pay the claims. Second by Marie Sweley. Motion carried 6-0. In the Principal’s Report, Mr. Drew discussed the completion of MAP Testing, Math Curriculum- envision 2.0, Parent/Teacher Conferences. Wade Finely reported on Policy updates, Parking Lot, Budget Submitted, District Audit, Negotiation Committee, Enrollment Numbers, COOP Board Meeting, State Education conference, Long Range Planning. Todd Wardyn moved to approve policies 1005.12 for second reading approval. Second by Bill Howard. Motion carried 6-0. The 2017-2018 budget was submitted on 9-15-2017. Marie Sweley moved to approve Bill Howard, Todd Wardyn, and Marie Sweley to the Negotiation Committee for the 2018-2019 contract year. Second by Jim Holm. Motion carried 6-0. Enrollment numbers for this year are PK 24, Kind 6, 1 st 9, 2 nd 7, 3 rd 5, 4 th 8, 5 th 7, 6 th 6, 7 th 4, 8 th 11, 9 th 6, 10 th 8, 11 th 6, and 12 th 11. COOP Board Meeting has been set for Thursday, September 21 st at Ansley at 11 a.m. In long range planning, the board discussed the four drop down hoops, seeing if we can raise them or replace with something that wouldn’t be in the line of spectators in the bleachers, updating the track facilities, and installing surveillance cameras. Jim Holm made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9: 07 p.m. Second by Todd Wardyn. Motion carried 6-0. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education will be at 7:30 p.m. on October 16, 2017. The agenda is a continuous agenda and is available for examination during regular hours at the office of the Superintendent.
