“Reserve, Best-of-show”: Dallas Rohde
1 st : Kayden Lucas, Watercolor
Litchfield high school students placed 2 nd in the con-
ference art competition on January 26 th in North
Platte. In a conference of 16 individual schools Litch-
field art teacher Allison Varah says “2 nd was awe-
some and she is very impressed with her students.” 2 nd : Rilee Howard, Mixed Media
Only Mullen high school accumulated more points
than Litchfield. Mullen earned 57 total points, Litch-
field came in with 42 points, and Callaway was 3 rd
with 23 points. 3 rd : Kiera Fulmer, Textiles
Art teacher Allison Varah states “Art is subjective
and you’re never sure how things will go in a show
like this. There are always pieces you think should
have done better and some that you are delighted
did so well. I was very excited to see so many stu-
dents earn ribbons and I just hope students whose
pieces didn’t place know their artwork is still awe-
some!” 3 rd : Emily Snow, Computer Generated
Dallas Rohde enjoyed high honors as his piece won
“Reserve Best-of-Show” for the entire MNAC com-
petition. He welded a Praying Mantis out of scrap
metal. It has wings made from a hand saw blade,
legs made from an old rusted wire cutters, the body
has pieces from a drivetrain of a lawnmower. With
nuts for eyes and rebar for arms it is fun to look at
and certainly unique, not a surprise the judges gave
it “Reserve best-of-show”
