Freshman Attend Connect the
Dots Field Trip
The Litchfield Freshman class attended
Nebraska Extension’s Connecting the Dots
career exploration day at the Valley

simulation to learn how their high school
choices impact their post secondary study
and their workplace experiences. Students
also participated in resume building and
interviewing as well as completing a
personality assessment. Students had the
opportunity to meet with local business
people from all 16 career clusters.
Students Attend UNL Math Day
On November 15 th , Mr. Franzen took 3
students from Litchfield to Lincoln for UNL
Math Day. Students attending were seniors
Christopher Paitz and John Zimmer, as well
as junior Kaleb Rosentreader. To start off the
day the group went to the Coliseum and were
given a short formal welcome. Afterwards,
groups proceeded to the Union where the
students took a test (knowing that if they did
well enough they would have the opportunity
to take a second test to compete for
scholarships). After testing was completed,
the students competed in a quiz bowl
competition. There were also demonstrations
put on in the Union by various departments
at UNL as well as representatives to talk to
from different departments. While on
campus Mr. Franzen and the students were
able to visit the UNL Bookstore and was
provided lunch at one of the cafeterias.
