Principal Welcome Letter WELCOME Students, Parents, and Community Members: As stakeholders of Litchfield Public Schools, we are eager to begin another school year. Our teachers have been busy over the summer preparing themselves and their rooms to bring our students an excellent education. Custodians have worked over the summer to improve the buildings and to provide clean and well-maintained buildings for our students to enjoy. Our student-athletes did a good job over the summer on using the Litchfield weight room in preparing for the upcoming seasons, and I am excited to be the Head Boys Basketball Coach this winter. We hope to have the weight room available for public use before the end of the first semester. We want you to encourage our students to be active in the many activities at Litchfield Public Schools. We have FBLA, Student Council, Trotter’s Greenhouse, FFA, One-Act, Band, Choir, Speech, and co-op sports of football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, track, cheerleading, and dance. We will again have a High School Band, and we are delighted. Please encourage our students to participate in as many activities as possible, as being in- volved allows them so many opportunities to learn, grow, have fun, be responsible, and devel- op leadership skills that will aid them once they leave our school. Academically, our school is able to offer excellent options in upper level classes, including Calculus and College English in core classes. We are able to provide many online programs in which a student may be interested, and have excellent music, business, art, and agriculture programs along with our core classes. We are also a 1-to-1 school, in which each student has a computer from 1st to 12th grade. Our preschool, which includes three- and four-year-olds, has over 20 students enrolled for the incoming school year! The elementary classes will continue to explore, create, and grow. They get great opportunities for hands-on learning experiences, such as going to Trotter’s Greenhouse and participating in a strong art program. In fact, four elementary students and two junior high students each recently won $1,000 scholarships through one of our art pro- jects! Litchfield Public Schools has a strong tradition, and we will do our best this school year to continue a tradition of EXCELLENCE. Matt Drew Principal
