BOARD OF EDUCATION
REGULAR MEETING
March 20, 2018
President Mitch Feldman called the regular meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.
Members Present: Mitch Feldman, Bill Howard, Marie Sweley, Todd Wardyn, Steve Heapy,
and Jim Holm.
Visitors: Brian and Jeralynn Moser.
President Mitch Feldman announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open
Meetings Law is posted on the wall of the meeting room, and also indicated the instructions
for those who wish to speak during the public forum.
The minutes of the last meeting were read. Bill Howard made a motion to approve the
minutes from the last meeting. Second by Steve Heapy. Motion carried 6-0.
The treasurer Steve Heapy reported a balance of $1,001,722.68 in the district treasury. Payroll
and claims in the amount of $221,000.56 were presented for payment. Todd Wardyn made a
motion to pay the claims. Second by Jim Holm. Motion carried 6-0.
Matt Drew reported on Graduation update, will begin student class schedules, preschool
update, elementary curriculum review, academic pep rally 3-19-2018.
Wade Finley reported on joint coop meeting with both boards, building and grounds, ALICAP
safety inspection, weight room improvements, policy update on 503.7, Personnel/staffing
2018-2019, Career and Technical Education curriculum review, and NRCSA Spring Conference.
Todd Wardyn made a motion to accept the weight room improvements as presented by Mr.
Drew and Mr. Blauvelt up to cost of $20,000. Second by Bill Howard. Motion carried 6-0.
Marie Sweley made a motion to approve the first reading of Policy 503.7. Second by Bill
Howard. Motion carried 6-0.
Bill Howard made a motion to accept the resignation of Ms. Hunt. Second by Todd Wardyn.
Motion carried 6-0.
Other items discussed were agenda for joint coop meeting, getting side basket hoops done
before graduation, starting on track upgrades this weekend, getting bids for new doors and
railings for the Main building, teachers’ contracts will be handed out on Monday and have to
be handed back by April 13th, discussion of classes to possible offer next year and offering
