Personnel High School Principal ( Page 3,4 ) We are pleased to announce that Matt Drew has been offered the position of PreK-12 Principal for the 2017-2018 school year . We had 25 applicants and we interview three qualified individuals . Matt articulated himself as a leader who will build relationships and bring genuine care for kids . Matt has a positive outlook for education and a sense of humor that draws people to him .
Matt will be coming from Giltner , NE , where he has been their social studies teacher , head boys basketball coach , and assistant football coach since 2007 . He received his 7-12 administrative degree from Doane College in 2015 and will complete is PreK-6 Principal endorsement this summer through Doane .
Matt has been a member of the school improvement team , has trained for the Adolescent Literacy Project , and has training and experience in using the Marzano-based Instructional Model . Matt ’ s basketball teams won back to back state championships in 2011 and 2012 .
Some of the comments about Matt from his supervisors are as follows : “ Matt is intelligent , hardworking , and communicates well with other faculty members and administrators .”
“ He was a dependable worker , great listener , and willing to be a team player . I have no doubt he would present the same qualities as a leader within your school district as well .”
“ I strongly recommend Matt Drew for your school administrative position and believe that our educational system needs inspired and motivated future leaders like Matt Drew .”
“ I see him well suited for an administrative position .”
Matt will be at the board meeting on Monday night and his contract will be recommended for approval Motion : I recommend that the district hire Matt Drew for the PK-12 Principal for the 2017-18 school year as presented .
Kindergarten ( 5,6 ) We are pleased to announce that Barb Kratzer has been offered the position as Kindergarten teacher for the 2017-18 school year . We had 15 good candidates and 3 outstanding interviews and this decision was a difficult task for our interview team . Mr . Finley commented , “ Barb has been working for Litchfield Public Schools for the past 12-years as a para – educator and part time instructor . She has been our No . 1 substitute teacher for those years . Barb recently served as a long time substitute in our pre-school program and did a wonderful job in the fall . Barb has an elementary degree with an emphasis in early childhood and she has been helping with our first and second , third and fourth graders during her work for Litchfield . Barb has an excellent understanding of our academic program at the elementary level and has a wonderful rapport with our students , our staff , and our community . We believe this position fits Barb very well and she will do an outstanding job with our kindergarten learners . We are pleased that we could offer this position to her after her many years of dedicated work as a para- educator with a full degree in elementary education .
Some of our staff comments about Barb include : “ I am pleased that Barb will be offered this position , she has been so dedicated to our district and has been an important part of our staff for many years . I know she will work hard to prepare our little learners in the nurturing and caring way that Sue Stubbs has taught for the past 35 years .”
“ I know that we can always count on Barb to help out whenever or wherever we need help . She a big asset to our staff in which our students benefit .”
“ Barb is here for the kids and shows genuine care and love for the children that come through our doors .” Final approval of this recommendation will be made by the board on the 20 th of February .
