Counselor Corner
DECEMBER 2016
Busy, busy, busy Your counselor has been busy getting the Second Step curriculum started in the Kindergarten and 1-2nd grade rooms. The kids have learned about specific tools such as“ eyes watching”,“ ears listening”,“ quiet voice”, and“ body still” to help them learn. These all aid in the“ focus” lesson using their“ attent-o-scope”. They have met our friends, Snail and Puppy. They help with the lessons. I have also been busy setting up the Winter MAPS testing as well as giving the Sophomores their Pre-ACT results. We had our first TADA meeting in December. We have exciting events happening this spring being sponsored by TADA.
Scholarship Opportunity There is a scholarship opportunity for students taking dual-enrollment college courses. Students participating in dual-enrollment college courses or early admit programs, are encouraged to apply or the Access College Early( ACE) Scholarship if they show financial need. This state and federally-funded scholarship will pay tuition and mandatory fees at participating Nebraska colleges. Applications will be reviewed by Nebraska’ s Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education( CCPE). If you have questions, contact myself or Ritchie Morrow, Financial Aid Coordinator, CCPE, ritchie. morrow @ nebraska. gov or 402.471.0032.
