MICKEY MOUSE TURNS 86!
By: RaNay Casper November 18th, 1928 is Mickey Mouse’ s birthday. Mickey will be 86 years old this year! Ten of Mickey’ s cartoons have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. One of which is Lend a Paw won the award in 1942. He was the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Mickey Mouse was created as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. In spring of 1928, Walt Disney got inspiration for Mickey Mouse from a tame mouse at his desk at Laugh-O-Gram Studio in Kansas City. Mickey only has three fingers and a thumb on each hand, and according to Disney was a financial and artistic decision. In 215, Hugh Harman found Warner bros. and Metro Goldwyn-Mayer with Rudolf“ Rudy” Isling had sketched mice around a photograph of Walt Disney. The first word that Mickey mouse had ever spoke in the cartoon world was“ hot dogs!” Animator UB Iwerks designed Mickey’ s body out of the circles in order to make the character simple to animate, which had become a character’ s trademarks. His design apparent in his ears, it also appears circular no matter which way the character faces. Mickey characterized as a mischievous antihero, but was rebranded as an“ everyman” a well-intentioned character with flaws. Then in 2009 Disney altered the character once again with the video game Epic Mickey, emphasising the adventurous side of the mouse. Walt Disney originally wanted to call Mickey“ Mortimer Mouse”- until his wife Lillian said she felt Mortimer sounded too pretentious. Mickey first appeared in color in Parade of the Award Nominees in 1932. The film was released to the public, having created for the 5th Academy Awards. Mickey’ s first color film was The Band Concert, which was released in 1935. Mickey’ s first feature film was Fantasia in 1940, as Sorcerer’ s Apprentice. It introduced stereophonic sound to motion pictures through a sound system call Fantasound, known today as surround sound. Source: http:// www. ibtimes. co. uk /
