Construction Update
Playground An appreciation is extended to Todd Wardyn and his crew for the timely installation of our playground cement in our expanded playground area . The playground fence is being put up this week and we are leveling the new playground with railroad ties , additional dirt , and will be adding chips as soon as that leveling has occurred .
Gym Floor Because of the high humidity and drying time needed for the painting , the gym floor installation , sealing , and painting is still in progress . It is necessary to keep the humidity at low levels while the floor is being sealed and painted . We are working with the installers to help keep the humidity in the gym at low levels so the flooring will not collect excessive moisture before and during the sealing and painting processes . We will have part of the gym tile area sealed so students and staff my get to the cafeteria and locker rooms during the first 8 days of school . The installer has promised he will work diligently to get things painted and sealed when humidity levels and drying allows . We have a good plan in place for cafeteria , gym and locker room access / use as we complete the gym painting and sealing .
Parking Lots John Kohls has been clearing and adding dirt to the north lot to create the new parking area . He will be trying to finish that project before school starts . He also will be adding a drive to the tennis court parking area and creating an appropriate drain for management of the water drainage of that area . Both areas will be great additions for parking on our campus . Steve Heapy will be hauling crushed rock this week which will be stock-piled in the gravel lot below the parking lot in preparation to complete the parking lot .
Bleacher Installation We have purchased the leveling railroad ties and will be leveling the area for the bleachers as soon as our school projects are complete and school begins . Bill Howard has agreed to help us put the new bleachers in place and we will organize a crew to put the bleachers back together once they are in place .
Landscaping This project will include planting grass and small plants below the new wall in the High School Front Yard . This project will occur this fall after the bleacher installation is complete and it is the appropriate time to plant in the fall .
Thank you to All ! We want to express our appreciation to everyone that has been part of all of our improvements to our campus this summer . We have had so many community members , board members , teachers , and administrators help to get things done . Thank you to our teachers , who have come in early and helped get their rooms ready to go . A special appreciation is extended to our custodial team members who have worked endlessly trying to adjust to construction work during their summer work and preparation for the new year . We will be completing projects during the next few weeks , but know that all of the projects are going to improve our campus in a special way . On behalf of our board and administrative team , I want to thank everyone who has helped to make our campus improvements happen !
Superintendent Hiring Process ( 32-34 ) During this discussion the board will be given two agencies that help Nebraska School Boards with the selection of their superintendent . Discussion of the process will take place at the meeting .
