Haro.com - Help a reporter out (Haro get it?) is an online forum designed to connect journalists from around the world with industry experts. Simply register (for free ) with the site and you’ll instantly begin receiving e-mails listing the various subject matter most journalists are looking for. These include(but not limited to) health and beauty, fitness, business and lifestyle. Once you’re in the system, you’ll begin to receive notices 3 times a day. Just choose the listing you want to apply to, follow the instructions and submit. Be warned, hearing back from a journalist may take up to 30 days or more.
If you’re a journalist looking for stories it makes sense to submit a query as well.
Google plus, Twitter, Pinrest,Linkedin.com and Facebook-Truth be told I was slow to register with these staples of social media. It took the launch of my radio show in 2011 to even consider using social media to promote it. Thank goodness I did because it helped get the word out (about my show) exponentially and in a very short time. I personally prefer using these sites for different purposes. For example, I use all 5 platforms to promote my magazine however I use only Googleplus, Twitter and Facebook when I want to give my audience a visual of the latest issue. I use Linkedin.com for increasing subscriptions and ad sales and Facebook for promoting different events (via Eventbrite).
