My Opinion

Welcome to the premiere issue of Small Business Forum Magazine Online. The idea for this publication came to me about a year ago while having a conversation with an associate of mine about my radio show-Small Business Forum Radio www.blogtalkradio.com/tonywilkins (tune in Friday’s at 3:30pm Pacific). During the course of the conversation my friend (a small business owner in her own right) mentioned that she was having trouble finding work. She’s a smart, well -educated, driven woman who unfortunately just couldn’t catch a break, business-wise. Being a bit of a problem solver, I naturally tried everything I could to help her land some gigs (the situation was so dire that she eventually lost her home and most of her possessions). And it got me to thinking about all of the business contacts, information, and resources that I’ve developed in over 30 years as a business development consultant. What if there was one place where business owners can find out which firms are hiring and where? What if the publication could tell these same business owners when prospects are likely to buy from them? What if there was a place where the average person could find links to jobs in their area? Or what if the publication could tell you about events in your area? And just for the sake of argument what if this same publication could help small business owners in a way that’s not only useful but pertinent to their marketing efforts? And that’s why this publication was created. Piggybacking on the success of my show, this publication will give you every advantage you need to close more deals, make more connections and educate you on areas not covered in any other business magazine. We want to make this magazine your magazine. That is to say that we hope to give you not just tips for closing more deals but referrals (yes we’re launching a referral platform in a couple of issues as well) to help you build your network. We want to tell you about restaurants worth knowing; people worth meeting and products worth buying. SBFM will also inform you of business trends as well as ways to do what you do better. As you grow; we’ll grow. Some things will work well in this format and we’ll try and keep those items intact. Other things that don’t work as well we’ll tweak or get rid of all together. After all launching a new business is a learning process. All that we ask is that you grow with us and let us hear from you. What do you like? What don’t you like? And most importantly; how can we help you?

Thanks for reading, subscribing and advertising with SBFM and don’t forget to tune in to SBFR Friday’s at 3:30pm at www.blogtalkradio.com/tonywilkins
