Gregory Sydney, founder and owner, Quick Delivery, a local company offering delivery of restaurant food, groceries, medication, and courier services. Morrison: My understanding of this Unit is that it takes a customized approach. So I feel like I have someone who will sit with me, listen to my immediate needs, and come up with something that is going to work for me. I believe that they are true to their word because, even prior to the launch of this new Unit, my relationship with them has been just that. Q: So you’re saying that 1 st National Bank puts you first? Morrison: Yes. I said it. Q: Can you describe your relationship with 1st National Bank? Sydney: 1 st National Bank is where I first started saving my money back in 2007 after leaving Sir Arthur Lewis Community College the year before. The bank has been very supportive and gave me excellent advice. After saving up for a few years, I was able to purchase my first vehicle to start my company, Quick Delivery, in 2012. Q: What do you think about the new MSME Competency Unit the bank just launched? Sydney: I’m excited about the new Unit and can’t wait to visit the bank to see how they can assist me. Actually, I’m hoping to be among the first customers to benefit from the new service. Q: You’ve been selected as a game-changer by the bank. Your thoughts? Morrison: That’s a heavy title, but I appreciate it. It means I have some really big shoes to fill – pun intended. Nydia Norville, founder/owner, Choiselle, a company specializing in luxurious, all- natural and organically-derived skincare inspired by the beauty, botanicals and bountiful healing traditions of Saint Lucia and the Caribbean. Q: How does the new MSME Competency Unit help your business? Q: You’ve been named by the bank as one of the game-changers in business. How do you feel about the recognition? Sydney: I was taken aback by it. After being in business for seven years and working hard, I feel happy about it. The business is tough but it makes me stronger. But not doing it would be worse. Mandissa Morrison, founder/owner, Shoe Rehab and The Foot Spa, which specialize in shoe repair and health and wellness. Norville: I’m actually really excited about this launch. I think it’s going to assist my company in terms of just providing some financing and teaching me how to use it properly. I think I heard them say they intend to help small businesses involved in the health and wellness sector which is the business I’m into. So I’m looking forward to it. With the German backing, I feel like it should be pretty solid. Q: Would this motivate you to finally become a customer of 1 st National Bank? Q: You’ve had a long and fruitful business relationship with 1st National Bank. But how does the MSME Competency Unit benefit your business? www.slyoumag.com | February - April 2020 Norville: Yes! I’ve been hearing good things about the bank even prior to the launch of the MSME Competency Unit. I just haven’t gotten around to doing it. However, I enquired about opening an account there. But being at the official launch tonight will definitely push me even more to do it. I’m definitely convinced. SL-YOU | It’s All About Business 65
