They are our body’s most developed sensory organs, with a larger part of the brain dedicated to vision than hearing, taste, touch and smell combined. To rephrase a popular phrase, the eyes have it! The eyes make us see the world in its full spectrum, thereby connecting us to many people, things, places, and experiences. Which is why that at the point of losing our vision, many of us spare no expense to ensure that our unique view of the world is not affected. For most of her life, Dr. Moraima Rodriguez has played a very important role in preserving people’s ability to see clearly. Quality eye care, she said, must not only be practiced, but also affordable. For more than three decades, her passion has been to use her expertise to bring quality eye care to people. 34 SL-YOU | It’s All About Business Dr. Rodriguez graduated from the General Medicine course in Cuba in 1988 and completed her specialty training in Ophthalmology in 1995. She worked for about twelve years at the National Center for Retinitis Pigmentosa at Dr. Salvado Alende Hospital in Havana, Cuba, for many years as a part of her specialized training. She performed various surgical procedures, including oculoplastic, tear ducts, cataract and glaucoma surgery, laser refractive surgery, and has a Diploma in Clinical Cornea. www.slyoumag.com | February - April 2020
