For 21 weeks this year, weekly
episodes of a programme
highlighting human rights --
“iRight” – were run on Radio
Caribbean International (RCI), Hitz
FM and Soufriere FM.
PCI decided to use a radio drama
approach, with a slant towards
LGBT issues, and getting people
to understand the challenges
that group faces. After doing the
relevant research via focus groups,
PCI brainstormed and hired local
writers and actors to produce 21
15-minute recorded episodes of
“iRight”, followed by 45-minute live
in-studio discussions weekly where
experts fielded questions from
callers.
Whereas the number of calls
didn’t flood the discussion period,
the masses were listening, many
choosing to send WhatsApp
messages. Despite many people
facing stigmatization and wanting
