LOOK FOR YOUR SPOT IN THE WORLD -INTERACTIVE SESSION FOR HIGHER
EDUCATION IN INDIA AND ABROAD

22 Oct. 2019: The School of Liberal Studies with the Office of International Relations organized an
interactive session for Higher Education in India and abroad on October 22, 2019 at PDPU. The
session was conducted by Ms. Gurmeher Juneja, an alumni of School of Liberal Studies, PDPU. She
did her Bachelor’s in Psychology with Human Resource Management. She did her Master’s in Clinical
Psychology from Colombia University.
Ms. Juneja started the event by talking about Application Information for studying abroad and went on
to list reasons to consider studying abroad – good research prospects, international work
opportunities, cultural experiences, relocating for students in BA (Psychology) and BBA (Marketing,
HR, Finance), and so on.
She spoke about the importance of choosing the right course and consequently, the right college. She
also talked about the process of preparing important documents required for the application, and how
to select applications for fall or summer semesters.
She also guided the students through the tests required to register for the colleges abroad since a
brief knowledge about the tests and cut offs could prove to be useful to obtain admissions in a good
university. Ms. Juneja briefed about the test materials such as SOP, LOR, CV/Resume, transcripts
etcetera, that a university would demand along with the application, and gave the students the formats
for the same.
She spoke about different ways to get scholarships, for funding purpose. The session ended with
questions and answers, facilitated by Dr. Ritu Sharma, Associate Professor at School of Liberal
Studies. Dr. Ritu Sharma also discussed about the colleges in India for Psychology and briefed about
various universities for Psychology courses for Masters and PhD Programs.
She also briefed about different programs in Indian and International Universities and the program
rankings. At the end of the session, Ms. Gurmeher Juneja was felicitated with a token of gratitude for
sharing her valuable time and knowledge with the students who would be applying for Master’s
Program.
