URBAN RENEWAL MISSION
INTERNSHIP 2016-17
AMC also gave an opportunity to SLS students to become a part of Smart city
projects and the students took it sportingly. They actively helped in making
various parts of the city get rid of unwanted posters and hoardings. They helped
the trees to breathe in by de-cluttering them of unwanted material things and
contributed in the tree-up keeping exercise. They also participated in the
cleanliness drive at Sabarmati Riverfront and learnt about the public amenities at
the Flower Park, Riverfront park, Dhobi Ghat and Biodiversity Park. As part of
student assessment for the internship, zone-wise presentations were taken
wherein students discussed their positive experiences and suggested measures
for improvement for making Ahmedabad city a better place to live in. They also
added that the role of citizens is vital in maintaining and making the city into a
smart city.
They also shared these experiences in writing in the URMI diaries provided to
them at the time of orientation. The entire URMI programme ended at a positive
note with felicitation of the students through certiļcates by Dr Tejas Bhandari,
