Sharing artistic voices with artistic people

Art is a catalyst . That is the one thing I can assert after having worked on this magazine . Art is not only created , but it creates in return . It creates discussions , debates , feelings , and ideas . It generates meaning for every person witnessing it . Producing this magazine made me see how passionate art can make people feel . The reason is quite simple : art is a medium , a platform on which social issues and social questions can be explored .

The French artist Edgar Degas once said : “ Art is not what you see , but what you make others see .” And what Sleuth wants you to see is the wide range of ways in which art can be meaningful .
From the possibility of expressing identites through art , to activist art which underlines the importance of minorities ’ voices , to the access into the creative world as a professional , young audiences have multiple entry points to explore the artistic world .
You will find , on page 10 , an article on the braiding of black hair , and how creative it can truly be . On page 22 , you can learn about a feminist cartoonist and her work making room for women ’ s issues through her artistic endeavours . On page 34 , you can read the interview of a young creative graduate and her transition into the professional artistic world .
At Sleuth , art is a way to give a voice to people , stories , and important discussions . It is also about showing art in a way that can interest everyone . Simply put , our overarching goal is to make art as accessible as a cup of coffee . Everyone can have different tastes and likings , and yet everyone can find a way in . We are just here to be part of the way in .
