CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS? My creative process for each collection is unique. What I can assure you is that, in YEAGOB and in my own atelier, I supervise every process personally, taking care of every detail. I’m not going to lie but it is a long process; designing, creating the patterns and aterwards the prototypes, we make several tests, when we have a “final” version we have some fittings with models and make some adjustments, then the photoshoot comes, etc. We go through a long process as you can see until it reaches our website www.yeagob.com. We go through the same process with each collection as we work as a family. Everyone is involved in each process so the results are completely satisfactory. WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNERS? My favourite designers are the Polish Joanna Startek, the American Thom Browne and David Delfin, who is Spanish. Startek is for me an example of sobriety and cleanliness, their client is very similar to YEAGOB's. Their lines are pure, the colour palette they use is neutral and their cuts are admirable. Thom Browne is one of the biggest innovators of the brand and I consider him an example to follow. Its style is much more creative but in essence it has to do with YEAGOB. He is not just a designer, he is an artist that generates works of art for men. David Delfin is my role model when it comes to Spanish designers. His very characteristic and daring style in each collection makes him and his brand one of the greatest in Spain. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE THE FUTURE TO HOLD FOR YEAGOB? I don’t like to think about the future, I rather live day by day the little changes without thinking what may happen tomorrow. Of course, I would love to make YEAGOB a leading brand worldwide in masculine design where clients wait for the new collection with enthusiasm. The European expansion is our biggest challenge right now. We are trying to get our brand in multibrand stores throughout Europe so there’s no geographical barrier for our clients. ANY PLANS OF MOVING SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE MURCIA? There have been some attempts to go with the brand outside Spain to countries such as Germany, France or Italy, but I have decided to stay in Spain, at least for now. I’ll keep travelling for pleasure and for work as well, but until the day arrives when I have a good plan, I will stay in Spain. Sleeves Magazine
