Stephen Bradford Memorial Trophy
2015 saw the second year of our new midweek trophy sponsored by Four Seasons Garden Centre and named after and in memory of Stephen Bradford. Once again the competition was hugely successful and thanks must go to the 6 teams who supported this namely Bourne, Bracebridge Heath, Lindum, Sleaford, Spalding and Woodhall Spa. With all games played in the old style Pattison Cup format of 18 overs a keenly contested knockout stage saw Bracebridge Heath and Woodhall Spa reach the final for the second year in succession. On a lovely evening at the London road ground and in front of a good crowd we were treated to a final that could at various stages have gone either way. However, in the end and thanks in part to a match winning performance from man of the match, Etienne Botha, Woodhall Spa ran out as deserving winners and retained the trophy that they also won in 2014.
As well as the participating teams, thanks must go to our competition umpires who gave freely of their time and all those involved from Sleaford CC in terms of the ground, bar and the volunteers who helped with the barbeque and the raffle held on the night. Once again we managed to raise around £ 300 which was split between a charity chosen by Stephen’ s family and for the further development of junior cricket at the club.
We are delighted to say that the competition will be running again in 2016 and will be on Wednesday evenings from late May to mid-July with six teams entered.
