The last one is the most famous shrine in Japan , called Fushimi Inari Taisha . It was built in the year 711 and boasts a history of over 1,300 years .
The main attraction of Fushimi Inari Taisha is the endless rows of vermilion torii ( gates leading to the shrine ). While most shrines have only one or two torii gates , Fushimi Inari Taisha has as many as 1,000 torii gates , which are perfect for taking photos .
Torii gates throughout the trail were donated by individuals and companies , and the name of the donator and the date of the donation are engraved on the back of each gate .
Fushimi Inari Taisha is located just outside JR Inari station along the Nara line .
